Over the last two weeks, we’ve had several unexpected power cuts in my locality, especially during heavy rain and thunderstorms. While I understand that bad weather can damage power lines, the restoration time sometimes feels longer than expected.
I recently read that JBVNL has deployed 24/7 Quick Response Teams across all power divisions to handle monsoon-related faults more quickly. Hopefully, this reduces the duration of outages in the coming weeks.
We’re seeing a similar situation in Chas, Bokaro.
Whenever there’s heavy rainfall or strong winds, electricity goes off for a few hours. Thankfully, it usually comes back the same day, but voltage fluctuations have become more common than before. It worries me because we have computers and other electronic appliances at home.
I hope maintenance work continues even after the monsoon.
I appreciate that JBVNL has started taking preventive measures this year.
Instead of waiting for complaints, emergency response teams are now stationed across the state. That’s definitely a positive step. But I think there should also be better communication whenever a scheduled shutdown or emergency repair is planned.
A simple SMS or app notification would help people plan their work better.
Power supply in my area has generally been stable, but storms still cause temporary interruptions.
One thing I would suggest is that residents immediately report snapped wires, damaged poles, or sparking transformers instead of assuming someone else has already informed the electricity department. Quick reporting can help repair teams respond faster.
Overall, I feel the infrastructure is improving, but there’s still room for better reliability during extreme weather.
